A Christian organization, Pray Seattle, is coordinating an interdenominational prayer initiative for the city. This marks the fourth year of the 40 Days of Prayer for Seattle during the season of Lent, a traditional period of prayer and fasting leading up to Easter.
Pray Seattle is a grassroots organization with member churches from many different traditions, including Catholic, well-established Protestant denominations, and also many independent non-denominational churches.
This year’s program started with a launch worship service on February 15, 2026. Resources for participation include in-person, printed, and online.
Their Urban Pilgrimage program is organized into six focus areas, each lasting a week. For in-person participation, at each location, there is a prayer room open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from morning until early evening. Each Wednesday evening, there is also a worship service.
Two of these locations, West Seattle and Rainier Valley, are quite close to Highline, and local, south-of-Seattle residents are invited to attend.
There is an online prayer guide available for download at the website, and it is also available in print. In addition to English, the guide is available in Chinese, French, Amharic, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
