Local city leaders, community members, and project partners will gather this week to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the Des Moines Marina Steps. Join the Des Moines Community, Tuesday, December 16th, 12:00 pm.
Groundbreaking at the Des Moines Marina, 22307 Dock Avenue S, will celebrate the long-awaited waterfront improvement project designed to improve pedestrian access from the downtown core to the waterfront through accessible walkways and scenic lookouts. The project will include a stairway and switchback ramps connecting the overlook at South 223rd Street to the Marina.
The Marina Steps project marks an important milestone in ongoing efforts to invest in the city’s waterfront and create welcoming, accessible public spaces for residents and visitors alike. Once completed, the new stepped promenade will provide seating areas, scenic viewpoints overlooking the marina. These exciting new features will offer a place for people to gather, relax, and enjoy the shoreline.
The Marina Steps are expected to support local businesses, encourage outdoor recreation, and serve as a focal point for community events.
