Over the past 10 or more years, there has been a sharp increase in independent and citizen journalism, as people want to share what they see and experience firsthand, and are beginning to reject mainstream narratives.
Much of that can be attributed to the decreasing trust in legacy media for many on the right and center, and the concerns many have if the news or sources they are subscribing are impartial, biased or willingly omitting certain facts and figures to manipulate the headlines, and feelings of people consuming them.

(Interesting article that also explains the trend away from traditional media, for example.) –>Substack article by Bill Rice Jr.
But as local and national issues continue to become more divided, and everyday Americans struggle to wade through endless posts, videos, and political opinions, many are yearning for a place to reconnect and get the straight-up facts about the things that matter most to their community.
Here at The Highline Journal, we are neighbors, stay-at-home moms, working parents, retired teachers, educators, professionals, community leaders, volunteers, and concerned citizens who are seeking to make a positive impact in the community that we all share. While we strive to give everyone a voice, we seek to provide a space where civil and dignified dialogue can happen, and where neighbors can come together and truly make a difference where it matters!
What makes for a healthy and thriving community is a listening heart, outward compassion, serving one another, and shared dignity that should be afforded to all of us. By striving to provide a fair and balanced platform, it allows for the free-flow of respectful dialogue, discussion, and healthy debate.
We have witnessed recently how fragile our society becomes when people are unwilling to listen and learn from each other. We don't have to change our minds about what someone says, but we should be able to give someone we might disagree with some grace, some space, and a place at the table. ;-)
We hope you enjoy this new platform at The Highline Journal and will join in the conversations.
