Community Forum of King County Executive and King County Council Races Set for Oct. 24

Candidates running for King County Executive and King County Council District 5 will join community members this Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, for a public forum focused on displacement and equitable development in South King County, according to Puget Sound Sage.
The event, titled “Rooted in Place: King County Candidate Forum,” is organized by the King County Equitable Development Initiative Coalition and will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at Highline College, in the Mt. Constance and Olympus Rooms (Building 8).
Confirmed attendees include King County Councilmembers Claudia Balducci and Girmay Zahilay, both candidates for County Executive. Steffanie Fain and Peter Kwon, who are running for the District 5 council seat, have also been invited to participate.
Organizers note that this will be the only candidate event this election season centered specifically on displacement challenges and equitable development in South King County—issues that remain at the forefront amid rising housing costs and limited access to community resources.
The King County Equitable Development Initiative Coalition, which brings together groups such as Puget Sound Sage, White Center Community Development Association, Na’ah Illahee Fund, Multicultural Community Coalition, Eastside for All, and Friends of Little Saigon, is hosting the event.
