The Burien City Council will discuss proposed broadband franchise agreements, review a resolution to support immigrants and refugees, and discuss Burien's Gateway Monument sign at its upcoming meeting.

Proclamations and Presentations

The meeting will begin with two proclamations recognizing important cultural observances:

  • Black History Month Proclamation
  • Lunar New Year Proclamation

Council and City Manager Reports

Councilmembers will provide individual reports, followed by a report from City Manager Adolfo Bailon on recent city operations and updates.

Public Comment

Community members are invited to participate during Public Comment.

The sign-up deadline for public comment for that day’s meeting is at least one hour before the scheduled commencement of the council meeting. You can sign up by completing the Burien Public Comment Form.

The council will consider several items on the consent agenda, which are typically approved with a single vote unless pulled for separate discussion:

  • Approval of Voucher Report
    • Check Register for payment on February 9, 2026 - $727,797.62
    • Payroll salaries and benefits paid February 2, 2026 - $778, 634,82
  • Approval of Minutes from the January 26, 2026 City Council regular and special meetings
  • Approval of Proposed Changes to the 2026 Human Services General Fund Allocation
  • Approval of Human Services Commission Recommended 2027–2028 Funding Priorities
  • Approval of Resolution No. 530, authorizing the South King Housing and Homelessness Partners (SKHHP) Housing Capital Fund allocation

Business Agenda

Items scheduled for presentation, discussion, and action include:

  • Gateway Monument Sign Refresh Update
    Economic Development Manager Chris Craig will provide an update on plans to refresh the city’s gateway monument signage. (Current sign located on corner of 1st Ave S & 148th.)
  • Introduction of Ordinance No. 888 and 889, granting a franchise to Forged Fiber and Ezee Fiber for broadband services, which will allow the company to use city streets and rights of way for "construction, operation, and maintenance in order to provide telecommunications service.
    • Both ordinances will be introduced by Development Manager Brian Tornow and are scheduled for discussion.
  • Introduction of Resolution No. 531, supporting immigrants and refugees, presented by City Manager Adolfo Bailon for council approval
  • City Council Planning Calendar, to be reviewed by the council

Executive Session

The council will conclude with an executive session held pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(b) to consider the selection or acquisition of real estate, where public knowledge could increase the purchase price.
