Community members are invited to tour the creative workspace, try hands-on equipment, watch demonstrations, and learn about classes and memberships.

Curious about 3D printing, laser engraving, woodworking, or stained glass? The Discover Burien Makerspace is inviting the community to explore its creative workshop during a free open house on Saturday, November 7, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Located at 611 SW 152nd St. in the lower level, the Burien Makerspace offers an opportunity for people of all experience levels to learn new skills, explore creative interests, and bring their ideas to life.

What Is a Makerspace?

A makerspace is a shared, hands-on workshop where people can learn, experiment, design, and create things using specialized tools and equipment. Think of it as a community workshop that brings together technology, traditional crafts, and creative problem-solving.

Whether someone wants to make a personalized gift, learn how to use a 3D printer, work with wood, sew, or explore digital design, a makerspace provides access to equipment, instruction, and a community of people who enjoy making things.

No previous experience is necessary. Makerspaces encourage people to try something new, develop practical skills, and turn creative ideas into finished projects.

See the Equipment in Action

During the November 7 open house, visitors can get an up-close look at the facility and discover what is possible.

Activities will include:

  • Tours of the Makerspace every half hour.
  • Live demonstrations of the laser cutter and 3D printers.
  • A free engraved keepsake for visitors to take home.
  • Information about memberships and upcoming winter classes.
  • Details about corporate team-building projects.

Visitors are encouraged to bring family, friends, neighbors and even local businesses interested in exploring creative team-building opportunities.
