SEATAC — Night owls should plan ahead as South 200th Street in SeaTac will close overnight for several days beginning Tuesday, Feb. 3. The closures are part of construction on the SR 509 Completion Project, which is building a new expressway connecting I-5 to areas south of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
From 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3 through the morning of Friday, Feb. 6, South 200th Street will be closed in both directions between 18th Avenue South and Des Moines Creek Trail. Crews will be constructing bridge foundations for a 1,587-foot bridge that will cross Des Moines Creek wetlands, South 200th Street, and the Lake to Sound Trail. Signed detours will be in place during the closures.
Additional overnight lane and ramp closures on SR 509 in SeaTac and Burien are scheduled from Monday, Feb. 2 through the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 3 to allow for guardrail replacement and landscaping.
- 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.: One lane in each direction of SR 509 will close between South 176th and South 188th streets.
- 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.: The Des Moines Memorial Drive South on-ramp to northbound SR 509 will close.
- 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: The South 160th Street on-ramp to southbound SR 509 will close.
