The City of SeaTac is once again asking residents to help shape the future of SeaTac Central — the area formerly known as SeaTac Landing — with a renewed push for public input in 2026.
SeaTac Councilmember Peter Kwon, who has served the city for 11 years, encouraged SeaTac residents to weigh in, "The city has a new survey regarding the direction of our 'SeaTac Central' plan and I hope you take the opportunity to participate."
City leaders describe the vision as a welcoming, walkable district where residents, workers, and visitors can live, shop, dine, and connect — all within close proximity to the airport. The updated SeaTac Central Subarea Plan will guide growth along International Boulevard and surrounding neighborhoods. The airport itself is not included in the plan area.
The update will replace the city’s 1999 plan and build on years of community outreach conducted between 2019 and 2024. During that time, residents, small businesses, airport employees, and community partners helped identify shared priorities: economic prosperity, attractive public spaces, mixed uses, and safe, easy travel.
Two Districts, Two Focus Areas
Two primary areas are under review. Along International Boulevard — the Airport Business District — planners are exploring office space, hotels, restaurants, airport-serving businesses, and improved pedestrian connections. As parking needs shift over time, new land uses may also be considered.
East of the boulevard, in the Multifamily Residential District, discussions include sidewalk improvements, better lighting, support for existing apartment communities, and expanded housing options such as middle housing and alternative multifamily development.
Community Voices Still Needed
City officials say they especially want to hear from renters, apartment households, Bow Lake Mobile Home Park residents, airport workers, small businesses, and historically excluded communities, including immigrants, refugees, and people who speak languages other than English.
Residents can participate immediately by taking the SeaTac Central Mini Survey at:

The survey asks a straightforward question: Do the earlier ideas still reflect what the community wants — or is it time for a new direction?
The future of SeaTac Central, city leaders say, depends on who shows up to help shape it.
