Highline’s Capital Facilities Advisory Committee will meet to vote on a bond package recommendation for the School Board, including decisions on replacing Sylvester and Cascade middle schools.
Details:
- Sylvester Middle School is recommended to be rebuilt at its current site
- Cascade Middle School is proposed for relocation to the Salmon Creek neighborhood, instead of rebuild on current site
- Neighbors have raised concerns through ThoughtExchange and public testimony
- The proposed site would displace the Community Shark Garden and a robotics team

A community discussion event inviting participants to listen, learn, and share perspectives on complex local issues affecting neighbors in crisis.
Details:
- Special guest: Kristine Moreland, The More We Love Women and Children Shelter
- Participants are invited to share their perspectives on this challenging topic and to learn from one another as they discuss important issues that affect all of us.
- The goal is not debate, but rather to be able to listen in order to understand one another.
- Melissa Petrini will be moderating the event. She will provide practical tools to help people be more confident in engaging in respectful meaningful conversation with somebody who may disagree with you.
- People are invited to watch or participate in discussion themselves, depending on their comfort level.
