Before Santa arrives, there’s work to do. Winterfest welcomes volunteers and sponsors.

The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation is inviting volunteers, businesses and community supporters to help bring its 14th annual Winterfest to Normandy Park Towne Center on Saturday, December 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is free.

The outdoor celebration brings together holiday music, children’s activities, shopping, food trucks and the annual tree lighting. Organizers say Winterfest draws more than 3,000 people from Normandy Park, Burien, Des Moines and surrounding communities.

There will be 700 free Santa hats and toys to hand out. And Santa needs helpers! Photo from Normandy Park Winterfest Facebook Page.

Volunteers welcome

Residents who want to help behind the scenes can contact organizer Susan West to discuss volunteer opportunities and available times.

The foundation recruits volunteers to help organize festivals, run booths, assist with fundraising and support activities such as Winterfest photos. Anyone interested in helping this year should ask West about current needs, assignments and scheduling.

Sponsorships start at $100

Businesses, organizations and individuals can support Winterfest through sponsorship packages ranging from $100 to $4,000. Customized sponsorships and promotional opportunities are also available.

Options include:

  • $100 Holiday Spirit: A 10-by-10-foot booth, website, email and social media promotion, plus recognition during the festival.
  • $250 Winterfest Program: Booth space and sponsor logos on scavenger hunt and singalong programs, along with online promotion.
  • $500 Holiday Music: Helps pay for the DJ and includes booth space and promotional recognition.
  • $1,000 Candy Cane Fun: Helps cover 1,000 candy canes and children’s arts and crafts supplies.

Vendors can join, too

Vendor registration is available for businesses, nonprofits and craftspeople. Standard outdoor booth spaces measure 10 by 10 feet.

Vendors should bring a tent, table, chairs, holiday decorations and lighting. Tents must have at least 20-pound weights on each leg. Participants who need equipment should contact West about availability.

Booths must be ready by 3:45 p.m. and remain open until 7:05 p.m. Completed registration forms should be emailed to West.

What’s planned for December 5?

KOMO TV’s Stella Sun will emcee an evening featuring Marvista Choir, St. Francis Choir, Cascadia Brass Band, holiday dancers and Momentum Irish Dancers.

Santa is scheduled to arrive in a motorcade of more than a dozen vehicles, with a 100-foot red carpet awaiting him. Plans also include free Santa hats and toys, a scavenger hunt with prizes, arts and crafts, an ornament and decoration exchange, food trucks, holiday shopping and snow.

Earlier that day, Santa photos, carolers, and more are planned at Manhattan Village QFC, 17847 First Avenue South, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
