Ever wondered what actually happens behind the scenes at the Port of Seattle?
This September, the Port is giving the public a chance to find out through Port U, a four-part adult education series offering firsthand looks at the region’s maritime industries and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The program is open to adults 18 and older and includes four tours focusing on different parts of Port operations.
Four September tours
The Port U schedule includes:
● Duwamish 101: Thursday, Sept. 10
● Ship Canal 101: Wednesday, Sept. 16
● Cargo 101: Wednesday, Sept. 23
● Airport 101: Wednesday, Sept. 30
Each tour begins at 4 p.m., with participants asked to check in promptly at 3:45 p.m.
The series offers residents an opportunity to get a closer look at industries and facilities that play a major role in the region but are often largely out of public view.
For Highline-area residents, Airport 101 may be of particular interest. SEA Airport is one of the Port’s largest and most visible operations, with its activity closely tied to surrounding communities.
Participation is open to anyone 18 or older. Registration is required through the Port of Seattle.
