Races on the ballot for 2026

King County Elections states that even-numbered years are when federal, state, legislative, and some judicial offices appear on the general election ballot. Odd-numbered year ballots include local races like county, port, some judicial, city, school, and special purpose district offices. 

2026 Primary and General Election Dates 

  • Primary election on August 4 
  • General election on November 3

Filing Information

Online Filing 

  • Monday, May 4 - opens at 8:00 am 
  • Friday, May 8 - ends at 5:00 pm

(King County Elections strongly recommends filing online as it is fast, easy, and convenient.

In-Person Filing

  • Monday. May 4 - Fri May 5 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Key Positions on the November 2026 Ballot

US CONGRESS DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES 

Reps in the US House create and vote on federal laws, draft and vote on bills and amendments. They act as liaisons between constituents and federal agencies

  • 7th CD - Pramila Jayapal - incumbent
  • 9th CD - Adam Smith - incumbent

STATE SENATORS

Draft and vote on legislation regarding public policy, education, healthcare, and environmental regulation. Confirm gubernatorial appointments and establish state’s operating budgets.

  • Legislative District 33 -Tina L Orwall - incumbent 
  • Legislative District 34 - Emily Alvarado incumbent 

STATE REPRESENTATIVES   

Vote on legislation concerning education, transportation, public safety, and health. They also set tax policies and determine state spending priorities

  • Position 2 - Mia Su-Ling Gregerson incumbent

Legislative District 34

  • Position 1 - Brianna K. Thomas incumbent

KING COUNTY COUNCIL 

As the legislative branch of county government, the council sets policies, laws, and budgets.  This seat directly shapes public safety funding, homelessness response, regional planning, and land use

  • Position 8 - Teresa Mosqueda incumbent- covers most of Burien

PRECINCT COMMITTEE OFFICERS 

Select seats are available for both Democrat and Republican parties. They are elected volunteers who get voter information out to their neighborhood and are a foundational part of each political party.
