A new playground is coming to McMicken Heights Park this fall, and local children and families are invited to help design it.

The City of SeaTac, Seattle Seahawks, KABOOM! and Delta Air Lines will hold Design Day today, Tuesday, Aug. 11. The free event officially launches the playground project and gives McMicken Heights families an opportunity to help shape their future play space.

Children can dream big through hands-on activities and share the playground features they would most like to see. Adults can contribute ideas, learn about the community-build process and find out how they can help bring the new playground to life.

The McMicken Heights project follows a similar KABOOM! playground build completed last fall at Duwamish Park in Tukwila. Children first shared their ideas during a Design Day. Later, more than 100 community members and Delta volunteers, joined by the Seattle Seahawks, came together to build the playground.

Now it is McMicken Heights’ turn.
