Get ready for lights, fire trucks and community sparkle — because the South King Fire & Rescue is once again rolling out its jolly annual event: the Santa Parade & Canned Food Drive.

After launching the parade during difficult pandemic years to lift community spirit, South King Fire has turned it into a festive tradition that — with your help — brings both joy and much-needed food to local families. Last year they collected over 3,000 pounds of canned goods; this year they’re aiming for 5,000 pounds, and they’re counting on neighbors across Burien, SeaTac, Normandy Park, Des Moines and the Highline region to help get there. southkingfire.org

Here’s the plan:

  • Bring along your non-expired canned goods (and maybe a bit of holiday cheer).
  • Bags need to be ready to hand to Santa's helpers as the parade passes by.
  • Gather your friends, family or even your block-crew, and watch for Santa and his fire-engine helpers as they roll through the neighborhood.
  • Track the parade on Facebook (via live GPS) so you don’t miss the action. southkingfire.org
  • Check the dates and times for the route in your area and get ready for a festive glow-up of your street. southkingfire.org

Why this matters:
This parade is more than just fun lights and Santa hats. It’s a visible expression of community care — bringing neighbors together and supporting local food banks when the need is greatest. You’ll be spreading joy, building connections, and helping ensure no one in the Highline region faces the holidays without support.

Quick tips for maximum fun:

  • Bring a donation bag and maybe a photo-moment for the kids when the truck rolls by.
  • Wear something festive — holiday hats, reindeer ears, fire-truck red.
  • Alert your neighbors so the whole block shows up and the spirit multiplies.
  • Share a selfie or short video with #HighlineHolidayParade to help spread the word.

Let’s turn this year’s Santa Parade & Canned Food Drive into the largest one yet across our region! Bring the donations. Bring the cheer. And let’s welcome Santa in style.

See you at the Parade Kickoff in Des Moines on Monday, December 1!

Parade Schedule 2025 (South King Fire webpage)

We will start at point A and end at point B for each route. Some maps might have a set of two, and that is because of the mapping program. We would start at point A and finish at point B, and then if there is a second A right next to point B, we will continue on that route until we get to the second point B. It is still considered one route for that time frame.

Click on the date, time, location below to view a map of the route. To follow along, visit our Facebook page for live GPS tracking of the fire truck and where it is located on the route. https://www.facebook.com/SouthKingFire/
