If you've ever wanted to experience the magic of owls in their natural habitat, this is your chance. Join naturalist Kevin O'Malley of South Sound Nature School this Saturday evening for a guided owl walk through Normandy Park, which combines education, exploration, and hands-on discovery.
Saturday, July 11th 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Meeting Location: Grace M. & T.A. Wilson Park
17000 2nd Avenue SW, Normandy Park
The free family-friendly event begins at Grace M. & T.A. Wilson Park, where Kevin will introduce participants to the fascinating world of owls with an engaging presentation. The experience starts with an owl pellet dissection, offering a close-up look at what owls eat and how scientists study these remarkable birds.
After the introduction, the group will take a slow, quiet walk to the adjacent Walker Preserve Park in search of owls. Along the way, participants will learn about owl habitats, behaviors, tracking techniques, and the important role these birds play in the local ecosystem. Observing owls in the wild is part of the adventure, making every walk a unique experience.
Designed for all ages, this hands-on outing sponsored by the City of Normandy Park is perfect for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the wildlife that calls Normandy Park home. Binoculars are welcome but not required. Participants should be prepared for a leisurely walk on a combination of slightly rugged gravel and dirt trails, along with some paved pathways.
Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot for this unforgettable evening of nature exploration.
