On July 14, officials from the cities of Burien, Des Moines, and SeaTac gathered at Burien City Hall to help residents prepare comments on the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). Three days later, the Port of Seattle extended the public comment deadline by 30 days, giving residents additional time to use the resources shared at the workshop.
About forty people attended the 30-minute presentation that was followed by open discussions at poster boards.
Resources for Residents
The cities have made available:
- Presentation slides summarizing the DEIS.
- Poster boards highlighting key areas of concern.
- A public comment letter template.
- Additional background resources to help residents prepare comments.
The poster boards present many of the issues raised by the three cities in a clear, concise format and may be helpful for residents reviewing the more than 6,000-page DEIS.
