The following is a press release from the Port of Seattle, dated August 6, 2026:
State Environmental Policy Act Sustainable Airport Master Plan Near-Term Projects Draft Environmental Impact Statement
As we approach the conclusion of the public comment period for the environmental review of the Sustainable Airport Master Plan, please note that the Port of Seattle Commission will be providing an additional opportunity to provide comments regarding the Port’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) Near-Term Projects (NTP) under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).
The public comment period ends at 5 p.m. August 20, 2026.
Following the regular meeting, a Special Meeting of the Commission will be held on August 11, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Port Headquarters, Pier 69, 2711 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98121, and virtually.
Members of the Commission will be in attendance to hear comments made, also making this a Port of Seattle Commission Special Meeting. Comments made during this meeting will be transcribed to become a part of the official SEPA comment record.
Comment time will be limited according to the Commission’s Bylaws and Rules of Procedure, as determined by the Commission President.
The meeting room is open to the public, the public comment period will begin at 3 p.m. and is expected to run until 4 p.m., and the meeting will adjourn thereafter.
This is not an official public hearing. The Port Commission is providing this additional opportunity for oral public comment as an informal public meeting pursuant to WAC 197-11-535(6).
Ways to Participate
In-Person Comment
The meeting is open to the public at the physical meeting location noted above. Commenters are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the 3 p.m. public comment period to sign up at the door.
Virtual Comment
Commenters may also sign up to speak virtually by contacting commission-public-records@portseattle.org.
In order to speak virtually, commenters must provide their name, address, phone number, and email address and note their intent to provide comment during this August 11 Special Meeting.
Members of the public wishing to provide virtual comment may request to do so beginning Thursday, August 6, at 8 a.m. through Monday, August 10, 2026, at 5 p.m. Requests to speak virtually will not be accepted outside of this stated timeframe.
Anyone signing up to speak virtually will be contacted prior to the meeting and will be provided with meeting access information.
